Join Davidson Housing Coalition on Saturday, October 3 for its 5th Annual Ride for Hope and Housing!
The event features 100K, 50K, and 25K routes through the surrounding countryside of Cabarrus, Iredell, Mecklenburg, and Rowan counties for avid cyclists, and a 5K Family Fun Ride for families and young children. All rides depart from the parking lot of Davidson United Methodist Church, located at 233 South Main Street in Davidson, with staggered starts beginning at 8:30 AM. New this year, free, youth bike helmets are available by request for Family Fun Ride participants. All rides will be fully supported with rest stops, SAG vehicles, and plenty of food at the finish line.
Proceeds raised through sponsorships and registration fees benefit the Davidson Housing Coalition, a non-profit organization founded in 1996 with the mission to provide safe, decent, and affordable housing for our low-income neighbors. Though more information can be obtained out Davidson Housing Coalition’s website, www.davidsonhousing.org, our programming includes of managing affordable rental properties, providing homebuyer and financial literacy counseling, and conducting emergency home repairs in our community.
Riders can register online at Active.com: http://www.active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=1754010. Registration costs $25 for the 25, 50, and 100K routes and $5 for the 5K Family Fun Ride; the same costs will apply for those who register the day of the event. Additionally, all riders have the opportunity to fundraise individually for the ride. If someone would like to search for a rider to support or make a stand-alone contribution, the donations page can be found here: http://www.active.com/donate/ride4hopeandhousing. Fundraising is encouraged but completely optional for all riders.
Davidson Housing Coalition believes that Davidson’s traditional mix of people in all income levels is fundamental to our community and distinguishes us as a town. The mission of Davidson Housing Coalition is to work with the larger community to preserve and create affordable housing options, and to prepare families and individuals for financial stability and homeownership.
